Extension 3.4.1 on 498 of 512 ChromebooksHealthy
Who, when and where
Every Chromebook session gets exactly one policy, and the most specific assignment wins: a device, then a user, then a class or lab, then the student’s OU, then the device’s OU, then everyone. Policies can follow a schedule and differ on campus and at home.
- Block-list or allow-list policies, with rules by URL, pattern, category or YouTube video
- Named schedules by weekday, in your school’s time zone
- Campus decided by your public network addresses, so home can be different
- Focus a class on a few sites for up to four hours
- Per-student exceptions that run before any policy

A second look at searches
Smart detect reads what students search for on 15 sites, including Google, Bing, YouTube, TikTok and Reddit, and the titles of the YouTube videos they open. Eleven starter lists hold 619 terms with sensible exceptions, so “suicide prevention” is not treated like the searches it is meant to catch.
- High: self-harm, eating disorders, hate and extremism, grooming, violence and threats
- Medium: adult, bullying, drugs, alcohol and vaping
- Low: cheating, filter evasion, profanity

YouTube, one video at a time
Shepherd records watch pages, Shorts, live streams and players embedded on other sites: who watched, how often, and which plays were stopped. Block the one video that is a problem for everyone or for one policy, and export the week to CSV.

Teachers see their own classes, with rosters from Google Classroom. Screens refresh every five seconds, and a student who has gone offline still shows on the roster.
- Lock and unlock screens
- Open a page on every device
- Send a message, or read it aloud
- Close one tab, or all of them
- Focus the class on a few sites

A block page with a way forward
The block page carries your school’s name, logo and colour, says plainly why the page was blocked, and lets the student ask for access with a note. Requests land in one queue; approve a site for that student or for everyone.
